Creative Sundays are for anyone who wants to make time for creativity - from professionals craving a change of scenery while working on their creative projects to the creative-curious wanting to play with the array of creativity boosting materials I provide and see where it leads.
December’s featured artist is Oakland-based visual artist Savio Alphonso talking about his process and inspiration for his stunning botanical drawings.
For Savio, flowers reflect impermanence. “There isn't a phase when a garden is in full bloom all at once; flowers appear and fade at their own pace. It's much like a timed orchestra, with overlapping cycles of sound and silence… Each drawing reflects a transformative phase that flowers pass through, filled with stories of what they imagine or observe. Even as they wilt, to me, flowers remain alive with a different kind of beauty.”
Savio will be bringing some of his original drawings to view, as well as additional pieces to share with guests. You can find out more about Savio’s drawings here and his work as a Design Leader here.
